Fuel Injection Control Module

I have an 01 Duramax and a few weeks back I went to start it, it ran for about 15-20 seconds and died. Since that time the it has not run at all. I worked on it to the extent of my knowledge and then had to take to the mechanic. A scan showed that the Fuel Injection Control Module "FICM" was not being read by the computer. I have searched all over the net for any information on this, but have not been able to find anything. Is there anyone who has had this problem or any experience? Local parts stores are telling me that the dealer is the only place I can get a replacement. Is there any other source that anyone knows of? Price on this part is around $800. OUCH! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FICM failures are very rare. Sounds like you sucked some air into the fuel system. Pump the hand primer until it gets hard.
Generally when it starts then stalls, this means there is an air leak somewhere. Probably around the fuel filter, water in fuel sensor, or maybe a fuel line.

We've tried pumping it up, but so far no luck. Fuel filter was changed about 1500 miles ago with no trouble up to now.

Code is still showing the Fuel Injection Control Module is out. Going to change it out and see what happens.

I would start checking all fuses and the two large connectors on the side of the FICM for loose, wet or corroded pins.

i just had the same issue with my 02 duramax. its most likely a mosture problem. take the fuel controllor off of the truck and take the screws out of the back of the contollor. once its open clean it with alcohol ONLY and let it dry. the alcohol will clean and remove any water or contaminates. it worked for me if that doesnt work pm me. i have a new controllor in the box if you need one

I just had the 25 amp fuse blow on mine this weekend. The mechanic changed the fuse and reset the module. It ran great after that! Should I be concerned about the FICM going out completely with only 100K on the truck?
