Changing Injectors

Hey guys i just took my truck to my local diesel specialist to check balance rates on my injectors and i found out i have 3 bad ones. So instead of paying their $90.50 per hr shop rate to change them i think imma try and change all of them myself if i can. Do you guys have any hints or tips for me to make it any easier? Do you think it is worth it for me to do it or should i just take it to them and let them deal with the mess?? Thanks for your help! I hope i can save some money and do it myself

it depends how confident you are in your mechanic abilities. I did mine 2 yrs ago and my truck still kicking butt. Just read the write up on here one or two times before you start. I took me about 14 hrs, but by no means im a pro, just a weekend warrior.

If you like working on stuff they arent bad. Keep a bench clean to put all the parts, stay organized, take pictures, and plan for more time than you will need. Its not too bad really, jsut a little time consuming is all.

To be honest. It's straight forward. Get under the valve covers and everything is obvious. There is several DIY injector swap threads out there. Find one of those and you should be able to do it. But you can't get pissed if you accidentally fawk up on something and have to tear it back down again.

I did the search function and found some procedures that were illustrated unfortunately, it was not done in a clear step by step process. Overall, it does not seem to be very difficult, just time consuming. I'm still looking for that "lessons learned" post that will tell me everything I should not do when it comes my time.
