I don't want to hijack, but I want to delete my muffler with the diesel power delete pipe for $69...but is it crazy loud, I don't want it loud, just help it breath better. Also, will it pass Cali smog without a muffler if I leave the cat there?

My lb7 came with no emissions extras but i don't know about the California vehicles as they always seem to be a little different. And if your looking for more flow but keep it quiet I would go with a full aftermarket exhaust with muffler, the delete does make it quite loud

you can pass smog with no muffler. you just have to have a cat.

It wont sound too loud, infact I think the LB7 has the best sounding exhaust. And yes, you can pass smog with no muffler.
Anyway any answers to my question??

I think you might have a smog pump on your lb7. since the lb7's dont have a egr they had some sort of pump that is run off the belt on the front of the engine. you can take it off but you need a smaller belt. do a search on it.

The Cali emissions have an EGR and a CAT and vacuum pump or some kind of pump up front, not totally sure. The PCV is still vented to atmosphere, at least my buddies 04 Cali LB7 is. Downpipe and pass. side up-pipe are different from a standard LB7 also. Thats really about it, oh and the heads have a smaller intake runner than a standard LB7 head from what I have read.

To remedy all this crap, get a Y-bridge, pass. side up-pipe, and aftermarket downpipe for a non-emission LB7 and do away with all that shit. Also, just buy a downpipe back exhaust to get rid of the cat and either get a muffler or leave straight piped.

as far as the cat, never had it. i bought the truck brand new and it never had it. infact this makes me wonder if it has anything for emissions. my truck was one of the first duramaxes in our area. funny thing is just to be an ass i stopped at a stealership here in town that i had problems in the past with and asked them if they had a 4wd, crew cab dually duramax. the f*k'n salesman laughed and said with a cocky attitude " good luck finding that truck, ur just lucky to find a regular cab with the duramax." so on the way back from grabbing my new D-Max dually i stopped at the same dealership. well when i parked it a bunch of salesmen came out to check out the truck, for some of them it was the first crewcab D-Max they had seen in person. when i seen the dumbass sales guy, i rolled down my window and said " f*K this must be my lucky day". rolled up the window and drove away. anyway the look on the guys face when he seen it was me, PRICELESS.
