I just bought my 01 2500HD and I am having the same problem. 115,000 miles, all stock. Should I get then FPR checked out? This is my first diesel so my learning curve will be steep.

Thanks in advance,
Dustin

Mine would surge and smoke at idle. Dealer replaced 2 injectors and the injector pump. It was under 100K so it was 100% covered. With over 100K you should only have a $100 deductible.

No warranty...what do you think it would cost? FPR? INJECTORS?

The fpr on gm parts direct seemed reasonably priced. It was cheaper than the dealers. I think the fpr is on the pump.

Isn't the relief valve on the rail and the regulator on the pump?

The FPRV (fuel pressure releif valve) is on the rail, and the FPR (fuel pressure regulator ) is on the injection pump. On the LB7 the FPRV is on a junction block on the drivers side, located with the pressure sensor...any other quesions??? J/J
