its not to bad i did one in my 05 in about 4hrs with beer haha. you need a holder for the fan pulley, a crank holder and a large breaker bar to take off the balancer and a good size torque wrench to put on, its not a hard job if you know your way around a truck a little bit, there are diy threads on it if you search them

How the heck do you hold the fan pully to get the fan nut loose?

Leave the belt on, get a pipe wrench and fit it to the nut, then smack wrench with the hammer a few good hits should take the fan loose.

you need a torque wrench that will go up to like 285 I think something crazy like that for the harmonic balancer

No need to hold it. Use an air chisel with a skinny bit on the left side of the nut. A few seconds and it comes right off.

There are a lot of hacks in this industry. Be very careful with who you choose to do work on your truck!

Ok stupid question here, Is the fan nut a RH or LH to loosen? Yea I know rookie question right......I have beat pulled tugged hammered and cussed the hell out of it and am having no luck.... I'm only about 10' from the tourch in the corner and have really thought about useing it!!!!!!!....eh also I have the starter off and have turned the motor/flywheel a full turn and have only found 3 small half drilled holes, is this what I use to hold the motor while I break the big nut at the bottom loose?

Its a normal thread; lefty-loosey.

If you have an air hammer, usually a couple hits on the corner of the fan nut will break it free.
