Service 4WD?

The computer spit a service 4wd at me the other day, but it hasnt come on since. Anyone else had issues with this? Book says computer picked up a problem with the transfer case. Could be, but I havn't seen the warning since in the last 50 miles. Even with 140k miles this thing is running like a top so far.

It could be a number of things. I had a Silverado 1500 that the switch module went bad. It would thow the service 4wd at intermittent times. How does your transfer case shift? Really, the only 2 parts that normally cause this are the switch itself and the encoder motor. When's the last time you changed your front diff and transfer case fluid? Not that it would cause this message to come up, but if it hasn't been done in a long time....might want to look at doing it. Only time will tell if the the message will come back though.
