What trans.

I've heard a couple of different answers to this question on another forum (not diesel related).

Did all HD Duramax trucks come with the Allison transmissions or did some come with the 4L80E in them?

I'm looking at a couple of trucks and I want to make sure I get one with a strong enough trans in it. I'm not planning on doing any major mods to the powertrain, but I know that the amount of torque supplied by the Duramax is enough to put a strain on the 4L80E.

IIRC, the vans are the only ones that came with the 4L80E in them. The 2500HDs and 3500s came with allisons in them.

Allison or the ZF-6 speed manual in the trucks.

IIRC the vans and the H1's came with a 4l80e/85e all other dmaxes had either the allison or ZF!
