In my post about Turbo lag, the subject of LB7 HP (mysteriously) came up and someone thought the correct number might be 235 (!). All sources here on the Forum agree 300 HP is correct, but I was curious where 235 came from as well as where I could find a number for LB7 HP from outside our own experts ("Trust and verify"...R. Reagan).
A Google of LB7 specifications popped up this hit in the #1-3 positions...and it's wrong
: 6.6L Duramax LB7 Specs
Wikipedia got it right: Duramax V8 engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
but when the first three Google hits show BS numbers, it's not too hard to see how bad 411 got picked up and spread across the interweb. While I suppose we could come up with some humorous reasons to let people think we only have the lower number, the cat would be out of the bag as soon as they saw our rear bumper disappear down the road
Another fact in the Wiki article that could be updated, GMC just built the 1,500,000 Duramax last fall: Southwest Ohio plant reaches 1.5 million engines
Why am I always the last one to find out this stuff?
And yes, I do have a lot of time on my hands...
Finally, here's what the folks at GMC had to say today:
