Question on tranny

My buddies got a 03 2500 hd with an edge that the tranny slips outta gear while driving and it also gets locked out in 2nd gear. He put in a new shift module and it still slips. any ideas.

Your saying the truck gets stuck in second gear and sets a service engine soon light?

If thats the problem then he burnt the clutches in the trany and the truck is going into "limp mode". Unfortunatly once you burnt the clutches once then there easy to slip again. Probably between 3-4th gear. Its common to happen when you add horsepower with a programmer such as the edge. Your buddy is gonna have to get his trans rebuilt and new clutches installed to fix the problem. He can get aftermarket rebuild kits that have better parts and will hold the power that the edge puts out.
