Warrantied injectors

Hey everyone, I'm new to duramax ownership but am seriously enjoying it thus far. I bought a truck from a dealer that came from an auction, the truck is very clean and had a clean carfax but I just had to replace the transfer case as the most previous owner hadn't repaired a seal leak and I paid the price. I understand it still has engine warranty on it and an extended injector warranty. To make a long story short the truck runs and drives well but I'm wondering if there are any pros to having the injectors tested now and if so how to go about it. Thanks for your help. The truck is an 03 LBZ with 84000mi and I have just changed all the fluids in the drivetrain and changed the fuel filter.

Until you start having problems it won't do any good to check the injectors. You will know it if they go bad do to the smoke and diesel in your oil.

thanks for the reply, will the oil level on the dipstick rise considerably? should I get the oil analyzed next change? will it show up on there? Are there any steps I should take in the coming months/years that could protect me from getting the runaround from the dealer in the event that they do fail?

yes your oil level will rise on the dipstick. It wouldn't hurt to get it analyzed. The easiest way to tell if you have diesel in you oil is when you check it use a paper towel and if you get a wet ring around the outside edge of the oil drop then you have some diesel mixed with it.

I would try to get a copy of the TSB and keep it. That way if you have problems and the dealer wants to give you the runaround you will have it.
