Unhappy Hydroboost is leaking

Hey guys, I was down at my local gmc dealership getting my fuel filter changed out and one of the service techs found a leak in my hydroboost unit they say its bad and it going to cost $1076 to fix with labor. I was wondering if anyone knows if that quote is accurate

Mine leaks too when the weather changes. I had my dealer print me a parts page for the hydrobooster and found my leak is where a gasket is that looks like a figure 8. They don't sell it individually...of course. Just for the parts I was quoted $500. Mine has leaked for over a year and a half and I ahven't had to add any brake fluid yet. I'm not worried about it...not for $1000 installed.

From the Dealer, yes.

Brake Fluid? How about your power steering fluid level? That’s what’s leaking, not brake fluid.

Here’s the part number for the HB unit, and the price from GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts.

GM PART # 15854059
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $543.74
OUR PRICE: $282.85

It takes less than an hour to swap one out, easy stuff. Flush the system via Power Steering/Hydro-Boost Flush and then add this procedure to your regular maintenance schedule to prevent future failures.

Wow. I stand corrected. PS fluid a little low but ok. My brake resovior is above it and I figured the 2 to be connected. Thanks for the help.

Mines leaking a bit. I got about the same quote from the dealer. I'm not too worried about it. I just watch the power steering fluid level to make sure it doesn't get low.

With basic tools and some know how or a book it can be done in a few hours. I have done them in less than an hour in the past. The hardest part is getting the actuator rod unhooked with out loosing the stupid little clip.

My has been leaking for a while, not a big leak just enough to upset the wife small spots on the driveway, Lol!

Found this one @ Napa-

Good price!

Dealer wanted $700 just for the Part.

Also for a temporary fix, Lucas P/S stop leak works pretty good, I've used it in a emergency before to get home.
