oil leaking from front of engine

I have 02 with 67k mi and ha ve a huge oil leak. It started with the smell of fuel and a rough idle. I thought these may be from a recent fuel filter change and added fuel injector cleaner. Today notice residue on tailgate then a huge oil slick under front it looks like it is coming from front of block right behind bottom pulley of serpentine belt.It seems more oil when motor is shut down then when running. After 8 qts of oil and a 40 mi trip to get home leak has seemed to slow down but still has a constant flow. I'am new to the forum and I'am by no means a mechanic so take it easy on me and please HELP! One last thing the truck has never had injectors replaced never noticed loss of power or any other problems.

It sounds like you're leaking fuel into the crankcase. Check your oil level and see if you have fuel in it. Iou're losing injectors.

Thanks for responding so fast. Checked oil on ground and on dipstick no smell of fuel and color of oil looks ok. If it is fuel in crankcase would it be pouring out front of engine like that and if injectors would'nt there be some kinda of other problems? like loss of power fuel mileage loss smoke fuel in air cleaner Thanks again will be waiting for your reply

I didn't lose any power or performance when I was getting fuel in my oil. Never posed a problem at all, just lost fuel mileage and smoked some. I just happened to check my oil about 500 miles before I was due for an oil change, and saw that the level was too high. I would think you've got something else goin on here

Thanks Matt Like I said fuel mileage is good no extra on dipstick no smell of fuel in oil. Have been reading other posts, could it possiably be PCV valve is clogged? but it does not look to me like oil is coming from blowbytube.

It could be, but without knowing what your truck is, its hard to say. Fill out your signature so we know more about your truck, and can help diagnose your problem better

Not possible if you added 8 qts of oil.... Dab dipstick on paper towel and tellus what hapens. Although you may have just blew a seal out....

It really sounds like injectors. But if it is not the injectors, then hmmmm.

Oil normally comes out the front of the engine on the passenger side, that is where the PCV vents on LB7s. But there should only be a little. The only time there is a lot is when the injectors fill the crankcase full of fuel.

You could have a bad crank seal too, but there isnt much for things that could cause oil leaks up front.

Well I guess I'am going to have to accept its injectors did'nt want to believe it and still don't want to believe it. I guess the stealership will be happy way out of the seven year warranty but way below the mileage. Third maybe fourth generation GM man but I just about had it with GM. Thanks everyone you've been a big help.
