Do they have to be bad to get them to change them? Will they only change the ones that are bad or all of them?
Most of the time they will give you the run around as most dealerships do. As far as replacing all eight - better hope that the injectors meet the "special" requirements as stated in the extended warranty policy. Leaking injector seats that cause fuel to contaminate the crankcase oil is the reason for the replacement. I have heard of several people who have only had 1,2 or up to 5 sometimes replaced instead of all 8. Depends on the dealership. If it were me I would find a dealership that would replace all eight. But remember they must meet the "special" requirements of the warranty per GM.
If you look at the balance rates, that will determine pass or fail. If the people that have had one and or two replaced the dealership didn't follow the bulletin. I replace all eight, and only take about 1 day down....unless injectors are on back order. Also GM covers the oil, but not the filter..if oil continimation has occured. Can't 'we' all get along??? LOL
One thing to remember. Not all injector failures are covered under the extended warrenty. As was noted previous they must meet certain guidelines. Sometimes if there are failed injectors on only one bank they wil only change that bank of injectors.

Yes.....X2 This is the main reason I have a copy of the GM bulletin stashed away for safe reference in my glovebox. Hopefully GM repair tech will have their Shi* together if I ever run into a problem.

How does one "get rust" in the tank when said tank is injection molded? What they found in your system is normal "gunk" and your filters performed exactly as they should have by capturing it. Because H20 molecules are larger than fuel molecules, more often than not injector tips break off and bounce around in the cylinder before exiting thru the exhaust and turbo. That's textbook 101 water damage to injectors.
Can someone post a copy of the actual bulletin about the injector replacement that GM sent out? I did not receive a copy of it from GM and my 2003 Duramax is blowing white smoke and I had a compression test run showing injector failure in number 1 cylinder. Dealership is giving me the run around, told me they were only covered to 100,000 miles. I'd like to have something in writing to show them.
Dozer,
I stole this from "ob 1jr" (a super moderator on this website). It is 7 years / 200,000 miles. I have a novel posted on this site with regard to the run around from multiple dealers and GM. Don't be a jerk with the dealer but stick to you guns and stand firm. My nightmare still isn't over with this problem. I did seem to get farther when I spoke directly with the Service Manager.

CUSTOMER REIMBURSEMENT - For US
All customer requests for reimbursement for previous repairs for the special coverage condition
will be handled by the Customer Assistance Center, not by dealers.
I was away from home when my injectors went out. My brother had the truck at the time. The dealership replaced the fuel filter and sent the truck back out. The next day the truck wouldn't start again. They checked the balance rates and found the injectors were bad. They only changed the driver side bank. I wanted the tech to change them all but they only changed 4. I wish I had been home to pursuade them to change all 8.
