I dont remember if the indicator was flashing or not, did not really pay attention to that. So I just need to check to make sure that it is still pluged in and not dirty, or is there a way to check if it is bad?

Just drove the truck and the indicator has a green square around the D for drive but no line under it, should there be a line or just highlighted like it is? I never looked before I had the problem.

Checked the NSBU, it seems ok, no dirt or loose connections. Called local chevy dealer and they said they have never heard of this switch. Does it have another name? The trans filter looks new but I think I might go ahead and change it anyway. I drove the truck again today, but did not get the two trans error codes again, any possibility that it was just a fluke?
Also is there a way to check the glowplugs or the glowplug relay? After I clear the P0380 code and start it about three times it will come back on.

One of the most common problems with the Allison transmission is failure of the Neutral Start Back Up switch.

Some of the symptoms of failure include but are not limited to:

No start condition
Gear shift indicator on dash not following properly
Trans stuck in limp mode or fail safe
DTC's set indicating pressure switch codes

Had the same thing happen to me in April. Pulled over, checked it out started back up and no light.
Last week, it acted up again with the service light coming on and the tranny acting funny.
Pulled over, let it sit and drove from Phx to LA no problem whatsoever.
Following day, same problem. Limped it back to Chevy and my tranny is dust. Said it burnt up. $4200 later, I wish I woulda thought more about the Service light in April.
Hardly ever tow with it and used Valv Dex/Merc ATF to change all fluids back in Oct. Hope that didnt do it.
