Gear ratio?

Is there a way I can check my gear ratio without putting the truck up and rotating tires while counting driveshaft revolutions?

I come from Fords and I know they usually have an axle code on the door sticker and a tag on the rear diff to tell gear ratios. Does GM do something similar?

Thanks.
Bill

They ALL have the 3.73 gearset due to the Allison doing a real good job at spreading the torque evenly. You could get a 4.10 gearset in a special order chassis cab[claims one member here, but I dunno for sure].
FYI you can figure out any ratio by dividing the number of teeth on the pinion by number of teeth on the ring gear

The easiest way to find out what gears you have in your truck, is to look in the glove box. You will see all the RPO codes there. Here is the gear/locker codes

G80 - Locking Rear Differential

GT4 - 3.73 Rear Axle Gear Ratio

GT5 - 4.10 Rear Axle Gear Ratio

I bet the farm you will find the G80/GT4 though
