and the spin on filter: Allison External Spin On Filter
you will then need approximately 10-10.5 quarts replacement. System total, including TC is 22 quarts.
There is a way to flush the system totally by utilizing the fluid cooler return line to drain with the system pump, this is a two man job for the more experienced.

| I run torque drive, works well. you'll see a drop in tranny temp running that. I talked to some techs at Stweart&Stevens a major Alli dealer, they said you dont have to change the internal filter. only when you rebuild the tranny. i had my tranny flushd by them and changed the external filter. FYI you can get the external filter from S&S for about 8 bucks, every were else I looked it was priced at 30 bucks and higher.
S&S told me runnig Transyn or what ever they call the Alli fluid, that My tranny would be good for 100k between servces. under severe service (stop and go short trips city driving) it would need to be serviced at 50 k 25 k if you run petro ATF. hope this helped. |

| Sounds great thanks! So if you were just to drain and change the spin on filter does it still take the whole 22 qts? This is where i get confused i had some guy the other day telling me somthing different? Thanks |

| If you have 4x4 dont forget the transfer case, very important, they need to be serviced at 25k. they take about 2qts-2 1/2qts. No, but you really should do 100 percent of the fluid, your servcie interval should last longer that way. take care of that tranny and it should last a long time. |

| Depends on how you run your DMAX. if you tow a lot, no more then 30k on synthetic ( which allison recommends anyways) 15k on petro, if you have high HP and trans mods and like to run hard a lot I wouldnt event think of running a petro ATF. 18k on petro 25k on syn. Normal usage on occasion tow something, lay with the 4x4 a littlebit, daily driver 50k. Allison says you can go 100k on highway use, i use my tranny for "severe service" stop and go stuff like that. just remeber the cooler the tranny rins the longer life span it should have. |

| I put syn in DMAX from brake fluid to the power steering. i have yet to put an exhaust on my DMAX, have'nt decide which one I want. got an intake, S&B. I didnt use thier filter, I put an amsoil Ea cold air filter. works good and gaind an extra mile on MPG plus you can hear the turbo alot more then before. FYI ams oil does not make a syn power steering fluid, I used Redline for my PS unit. Royal P makes one too. |
