Loss of power

I was pulling a 40ft 5th wheel up a hill and the truck lost all power until it dropped to below 40 then all the power came back. Then on thursday my mom was pulling a hill with just a 3 horse trailer up a hill and she said it did the same thing. Any ideas I havent pulled after and I need to use it again soon. The programmer is on tow preformance mode.

It may be starving for fuel at that speed. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

You may have gotten some bad fuel, I would start with replacing it again.

Ill have to do that. When it comes to filters do I need to go to gm for an ac delco or is there an aftermarket one that works as well or better.

It could also be the FPRV. Once you back off on the pedal it resets after a few seconds and down the road you go, ... until the next time.

I was ridin' in a DMax that would do this about every 40 to 50 miles, when towing. Then, we figured out it was happening most often when going uphill. I think the owner fixed it by shimming the Fuel Pressure Relief Valve.

FPRV is a b*tch to change... gotta dig to it. It would usually throw a code, P0089 (almost positive that's the right code).

If it only started doing it when you used the tuner, try flashing it back to stock and see if it still does it. If that fixes it, try to flash it back to tow. If the problem persists, go back to stock and return your tuner.

It could have bad programming or it could be that it doesn't mesh well with your ECM/TCM.

Ill try that. Its not throughing a code so I wasnt sure that it could be the FPRV.

It could still be the FPR but USUALLY it throws a code...

Any problems with loss of power usually results from a loss of fuel or air, or a combo of the two... that's really all these trucks need.

Speaking of air... is the air filter clean? Any signs of turbo leaks?
