The egts never went above 1100-1150 when I did the same hills with my old powerstroke.

Yes the edge watches egts, but when you lug these things the egts will go up considerablly. You may not have a problem with them, i was just saying that they will be higher when you lugging than they will if you let it downshift and get a few rpms.

Just curious where you got your specs at. I was talking to my shop the other day and I mentioned to him what you said. He said he's curious to where you saw your specs at because BD never will give him specs on it.

My friend at this shop said he has two boys pulling sleds with this trans setup in it and they have never torn it up yet. They're both making over 500hp. BD does not offer different levels like suncoast does, hence when you buy one, your buying the equivalent of a stage 5 suncoast. He said the trans runs about 4400, the converter about 1800, and he gets 450 to install.

Wow that's kinda high. My SCIV with 1058 wasn't that much. I would stick with a Suncoast. I have about 15k on mine now with 500 hp since it was put in and it has not skipped a beat. Tows great and just shifts awesome. I'm getting upgraded to EFI live right now so we'll see how it does on the dirt draggin a big heavy steel box! My PPE does pretty good. I am highly sold on Suncoast. I have buddy who just got a SC put in his 07 Dodge and he's lovin it too. Goodluck with your decision.

One thing you can do to help your hill climbing, is switch on the tow haul mode. That should help it hold gears a little longer, and keep it in OD longer.

I cannot speak to auto trannys at all, but I have a manual 6-spd, and in 6th going up long grades even pulling a loaded trailer my EGT's do go up, but not enough to cause problems, with the heaviest of loads, running 70-75 uphill they never go above 1350...
Just food for thought...

All my towing is done with tow/haul mode on. I pull a 9,000 lb trailer daily. Occasionally I pull a 22.000 lb gooseneck averaging 28,000 lbs. gross. However, I am not trying to base my towing on those loads. If I can get my 9,000 lb trailer to pull nice, I will be happy.

I would like to put a 6spd manual in this truck, but so far no one seems to think that this would be a good idea. Everyone says spring for an upgraded auto.
Just another question for bigdaddydiesel, Are your airbags helper bags, or are they full airride suspension?
