Factory engine oil cooler?

How come lb7 dmaxes don't have a factory engine oil cooler and the lbz's do? Also, has anyone added that cooler to a lb7?

Yearly upgrades Id say! I havent heard of problems with oil getting hot but Im sure it happens.

I never checked for a cooler as long as theres a place to plug into the oil system then It would be easy to add a cooler. Probably just get a universal tranny cooler from the auto parts store.

I'm pretty sure the LB'7's have a oil cooler, its just a weird design that is mated to the block of truck... found the link"The oil cooler was directly attached to the left side of the cylinder block." 2001 To 2004 Chevy LB7 Duramax - Diesel Power Magazine

Just use good synthetic oil is my best advice, even if you have a good aftermarket oil cooler the oil gets hottest when lubricating the cylinder wall, and heat is one of the main things that kills oil. I've been thinking about getting an oil cooler myself. Let me know if you got/get one.
