idle control

just wondering if any of you guy ever thought of putting a idle control in for when the truck is idleing for long peirod of times to build oil pressure.

you talking about the elevated idle activated by cruise control??? yes I have done it and it works great...I bought a kit from Eric Merchant (see signature) LB7 High Idle Kit and the instructions to install it are here: Fast Idle Installation Instructions for LB7 Duramax

let me know if u have any questions on installation. You can do this mod for about $5 (pins being the most expensive part of it)....but to have everything you need for $12..not too bad.

so it works good for you? i just heard that is better for the engine to run a little high rpm while idleing. good for in the winter also. so hard do you think it is to install and how long does it take?

bd makes a 3 setting high idle kit/switch, its 25 bucks. im going get one here before winter and another for my dad for an yearly christmas present

it works pretty good. It took me an hour because I was just taking my time and messed around trying to get the wire through the firewall to the brake pedal wire (green/white). I have it set up to work with my remote start...I use the trunk button on my remote activate the high idle.

your trucks dont come with the elevated idle mine can do it from the steering wheel

all LLYs and newer have it, the LB7s dont.

I am lazy and havent installed one yet so I use my laptop to riase the idle.

The pins are a rip off.

Install is easy just make usre you disconnect the batteries.

The Pins can also be a pain to get seated in the harness just take your time.
