Downpipe install

Thinking about getting this downpipe

2001 2004 GM Cheverolet Duramax Diesel Turbo Direct Downpipe Stainless LB7 | eBay

I believe its made by pypes pn#DTD0104. Wondering if anyone's used this?

Also should i get a new flange gasket for the turbo or does everyone reuse the one on it?

Any other tips are also greatly appreciated!!!

If you are doing it youirself you may want to read some of the other posts on the subject first. I have a aftermarket downpipe on my truck and the only real difference I seen with it was the exhaust tone. But if you have plenty of time to get it done and up for the challange, go for it.

Did you reuse the gasket? I cant find an install post that says anything about it.

Magna flow makes one cheaper than that and its wrapped.

My mbrp came with a gasket, id expect most kits too. But if the gasket looks ok im sure you can re use it.

Hope youre ready for a PITA job if the bolts dont break loose easily

I reused the gasket on mine. Just soak the bolts with a good penatrent, PB blaster, Aerokroil, for a couple of days before hand and take your time, pull the front pipe out of the exhaust and I also removed the bolts for the trans mount and jacked up the trans and engine to get the old one out. Took a little persuading to get the new one in. I noticed lower EGT's, deeper tone, and quicker cool down.
