Trans limp ?

with everyone talking about trans limp how can i check to see if mine is in limp

If you've never had the truck limit you to under 35mph, you're not in limp mode.

You would know if it was in limp mode without a doubt. I dont know if you can look and see if it has ever limped before, if the code was cleared already.

are there indicators stored in the tcm that the obdii reader cant see? what about the techii?

You will get a code. It usually starts from P0700. If it limps, it will stay in 3rd gear, no more than 40 mph. It's easy to know when it happens.

ok
i have a tech 2 and a otc genisys so i will scan for history codes
basically the allison limps just like the 4l60e or 4l80e i was just wondering because i am new to the allison besides servicing

i believe you can take the trans limp out with efi live,so it wont limp again.Im not 100% sure though

mine went into limp and i still did like 50-55.....had like 2600 rpms but still.....i think limp mode is the dumbest thing....

Limp mode saves you from yourself. If it didnt limp, and you held into it with the clutches slipping, you would probably eat through the frictions and then they would all get so hot they would weld to eachother. Not for me to say exactly what would happen, other than it would be really bad!
