You would know if it was in limp mode without a doubt. I dont know if you can look and see if it has ever limped before, if the code was cleared already.

basically the allison limps just like the 4l60e or 4l80e i was just wondering because i am new to the allison besides servicing
mine went into limp and i still did like 50-55.....had like 2600 rpms but still.....i think limp mode is the dumbest thing....

Limp mode saves you from yourself. If it didnt limp, and you held into it with the clutches slipping, you would probably eat through the frictions and then they would all get so hot they would weld to eachother. Not for me to say exactly what would happen, other than it would be really bad!
