I just bought a 2002 Duramax, it came with a K&N intake system on it and 4" straight pipe exhaust. I put a Hypertech programmer on it and keeps giving me the P0101 code and the truck has absolutely no power. I cleaned the MAF sensor and it ran awesome for about 2 weeks and then no power again. I tried cleaning it again and still no power. I'm getting really frustrated with this truck. I know it should have way more power that its giving me. Please Help!!!!!!!
Oiled filters and MAf sensons dont get along very well, the problem usually comes from over oiling the filter and then the oil gets sucked out of the filter and ends up on the MAF sensor causing codes. Try cleaning it again and be careful how u clean it they are some what fragile!

I also have a 2002 Duramax and had the same problem. It turned out that I had to replace the fuel filter. When I replaced it I got all power back and could really feel the difference when the turbo kicked in. Since then; just as most other people say; I change the fuel filter every 10;000 and have had no problems since.
PS: I am also running a 4 inch exaust with a power intake.
I replaced the fuel filter about 2,000 miles ago and it didn't help. Whatever is going on it is a night and day difference in power and it is intermittent. Does anyone know how drastic of a power reduction you will have with a MAF sensor that is not working right? I do think something is going on with the fuel because I can turn the chip up all the way and still not get any smoke.
100% of the engine fueling can be controled by the MAF especially if its showin no air flow!
If cleaning it dose not help it probally needs replaced, but hold on to your wallet they arent cheap for all the bigger they are. But i would try cleaning it again, inspect it good make sure there is nothing stuck up in it or around the elements in there. I would use electrical contact cleaner, u can usually pick it up in a computer store or a radio shack type store!

Cool, thanks I'll try it. Also does anyone know where I can get the same cone style filter as the K&N. I dont want to run an oiled filter if I'm going to keep having this problem.
