Programmer fustration

While trying to program the computer in my truck I keep getting a error code 7E displayed on the controller. I read the instructions carefully before I started the programming process and followed each step 1 by 1 even removing the fuse for OnStar, turning off the dome lights, radio, climate control and setting the parking brake to disable the DRL lights. I have have made several attempts at different times and every time I get the error code. I have searched the Internet and this seems to be common problem with Hypertech programmers and Chevy/GMC Duramax trucks. From information I have gathered it seems that something in the truck is still pulling power causing an interruption in the programming process.

I sold my 02 duramax and bought this 03 model truck few of months ago and its completely all original in stock condition. The programmer came with the truck. Is there something I'm not doing right or overlooking something? Please, any suggestions on what to do? I contacted Hypertech and they want me to buy a new one... Of course

Thanks for any info

How do I update it? Hypertech is trying to sell me a new one, so there not going to help me. I really want to figure this one out without buying another one. My truck is pretty weak compared to my 02 model Duramax I had before this truck.

If I buy another brand programmer will I have to take the truck to a dealer and have them re-flash the computer to factory settings before I tune it with a new programmer? I dont know if the Hypertech tune is in it, but which ever the case its pretty weak...

Thanks
