The problem is on the lly engines.

The mouthpiece is a problem on the LLY motors... the egr blocker plate refers to all year durmax trucks.

Egr blocker keeps nasty exhaust gases from being pushed back through your intake and charge lines and gumming them up with oil and soot.

Mouthpiece on an LLY is very restrictive, swapping it out for an LBZ, Kodiak or AFE helps the turbo breathe a little better.

What year truck are you running??

You wont need the mouthpiece. There is some port work you can do the the IHI intake horn on yours to help it spool a little quicker.

Blocking egr is something you can do. 03 will have it.

edit: found some links, check these out.

Best tools to use for horn mod???
LB7 Turbo mouthpeice mod

This is the first time I saw mention of blocking the EGR on the LB7 Duramax. What does this do for you other than blocking off the return gasses?

The liberal, environmentalist can have my Duramax when they pry it out of my cold, dead hands!

only some lb7's will have egr...if you do have it it keeps your intake clean by blocking all the soot and also keeps the temp of combustion gasses down for a tad more power at part throttle..

after all exhaust gas is pretty hot so breathing it is bad
