Helix Core Throttle Body Spacer (Intake Insert)

I know this might be a dumb question but since I am new to the diesel forum I will ask anyways. I have a completely stock truck that I will be starting some mods on. I was researching parts and products and found that Airaid makes a part, they call a "throttle body spacer", but for the Duramax it is really a kind of an intake insert. I know for gasoline it helps midrange torque be increasing velocity, but I am thinking that is would not work on this setup very well because it would just take up volume in the intake and reduce amount of air you can suck in. I thought I would just see if any of you have heard of it becasue it is only a $100.00 part and wanted to see if anyone had anything good to say about it.

Thanks

Throttle body spacers don't work they did a study on them to see if they really work as advertised and got no gains and every one I've talked to that has one hasn't noticed any gains but I've never heard of one for a diesel

I understand that the duramax does not have a throttle body, hense the "intake insert"clarification, that is just what Airaid is calling it for people who don't know any better. I just wanted to know if it was a joke or a valid power maker for a diesel.

P.S. The poweraid throttle body spacer on my 96' 1 ton with a 5.7L made increase of 6.4 RW HP@ 4200RPM, and about 9 ft lbs of torque @ 2700RPM. That was because I all ready had many other mods done, but it does help on a naturally aspirated engine.

anyways thanks for the posts, and I thought this was a dumb new guy question, sorry!

Ya, something on the intake side really cant help unless your pulling more air than your stock intake can supply, which is around 500rwhp iirc.
