Edge W/ ATT and Tow/Haul

Since I'm new to this yet, maybe its a dumb question. I was told by mechanic that if your using Edge w/Attitude, with the changes made to transmission pressures and shift points by program/chip, if you use tow/haul mode it fights with the transmission changes by the chip. Mechanic said not to use tow/haul only with stock level, not with any modified levels. Thanks for any info on this.

Never heard of anything like this. All tow/haul does is up line preasure in shifting. Your tranny will have a relear process it will go through before the shifts smooth out with the edge.

I also wondered the same thing. I have the same Edge W/Attitude setup and I always wondered which to use. The TOW mode within the Edge chip, or the Tow/Haul mode that came with the truck or some combination of both. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The tow mode on the edge is adjusting timing, fule, etc. for power and the tow/haul on your tranny ups line preasure for less slipage while towing a load. You dont really need the tow haul mode unless your towing heavy. As for the towing mode on the edge its works well to keep mpg up and egts down while towing and its tranny friendly for slipage. Hope this helps.

Tow/Haul mode for the tranny locks the torque converter in 2-5th gear. I use T/H when I see my tranny temps climbing or when I am on and off the throttle like going up and down hills. The Edge does nothing to the tranny in terms of line pressure...the allison has a separate transmission computer that controls that. The only way the line pressure gets changes is if you install a shift kit like a transgo Jr if you have a 6speed or the full transgo kit for the 5 speed. These guys are right though...the tranny has to relearn for the power level you have it set at even in T/H.
