Omg.....

Quote:
bang for buck 6-800 hp would be a stock lb7 (duramax 01-03) all you need is the ppe diesel (Pacific Performance Engineering, Diesel Performance Technolgies) Hot +2 E.T. Eliminator excelarator programmer 425 hp over stock, you'll have a rocketship
Read this post elsewhere. Correct me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be the smartest thing to do to an otherwise completely stock truck.....I mean no intake, exhaust, trans/clutch upgrade, pump upgrade, etc....

I am familiar with the Duramax, but nowhere near that of the other two......what is else is necessary to have a reliable +425 hp?

An upgraded tranny would be first on the list. a set of gauges to keep an eye on every thing. and a lift pump.

Yeah, that's given stuff.....Cp3 ok? Rods ok? Injectors capable and reliable at those levels?

Injectors, rods and cp3 are fine at 450-550 LVL stock. Once you get beyond the 550 WHP mark you need to look into some rods and head studs. There are exceptions to the rule but in general people have had good luck with stock internals under 550whp.

Also the PPE HOT +2ET mentioned above is only good up to a 350 tune with a stock cp3 and you really need a lift pump for anything over the 225 tune IMO..

Trans and lift pump is a first and then the list goes on. I read the same post on powerstroke.org. Good Luck
