I have a 5" straight exhaust that is a little too loud. Sounds good, but I would like to quiet it down a bit. Is there a muffler that I could add that would still flow but make it quiet? I did a little looking and I didn't come across a muffler that has a 5" diameter. If I were to go with a reduced size free flow isn't that going to also reduce my air flow?
I have a diamond eye 5" inlet 5" outlet muffler that is straight threw on my truck. When i frist seen it i didn't think there was any way that it would make my truck any quieter but it did. i went from a 4" straight pipe that roared like crazy on the hwy to the 5" and it made a big difference. Still sounds good when you are getting after it but when driving normal can hardly hear it in the cab.

you should be able to get a muffler from MBRP or any company that sells 5" exhaust. Almost all the mufflers are straight through. My MBRP has a nice mellow note to it. it sounds good, but I miss having the stock system straight piped.

Question: I have a stock exhaust system right now, can I cut out the catalytic converters and weld pipe in their place? Is that what you meant when you said "I miss having the stock system straight piped"?

You can do that, but most likely your truck will throw a SES light because of the cat being gone. There is stuff out there that will get rid of that code. You could just try getting a new front pipe from someone that upgraded the stock setup. If you lived close to me I could give you mine for cheap. What I meant by missing my truck being straight piped is the sound when driving around. My truck didn't have a cat on it from the factory and I just had the muffle cut out and piece of pipe welded in. Cruising there was very little interior resonance (straight piped) compaired to my MBRP system. I still like the mellow sound of the MBRP, but I may be getting a muffler delete pipe for it.
