Hi everyone. I am looking at purchasing my first diesel and am set with either a chevy or a dodge (chevy preferred). I have been doing some reading on the duramax chevy's but it doesn't appear that there is much info on the 6spd manual tranny trucks. How durable is this transmission? I've read that you can only get about another 90hp out with the ally before that needs upgrades but what about the manual transmission? I don't plan to do a whole lot of go fast mods to the truck, I'm mainly just looking to see that if I did some basic mods to it if I would need to worry about it at all.
My good friend has he 6spd Dodge and he has had to replace the clutch twice. These are some of his upgrades Bully Dog Triple, 5 in. MBRP, Some kind of CAI.

the ZF6 behind the Duramax doesn't like hardly any aftermarket HP(60RWHP max)but it can handle a few but plan on doing a double disk clutch from SouthBend and then your good for alot of extra HP.when left in stock form the ZF6 is a great tranny and will do years of service but even in stock form it can give if used extra hard.
