I have a crew cab long bed 2003 duramax. I was wondering about the Power pup and the shift enhancer. Mainly the shift enhancer, if anyone has this mod what exactly does it do and is it good for the trans? I would like to do some light mods without sacraficing motor and trans life? If anyone has any other suggestions i would like to hear the too. Also I was wondering about a good leveling kit. Thanks!
i used the bully dog triple dog for a while and it was alright not much adjustability. From what i hear the shift enhancer wont do anything for you or your trans. The banks bullet looked to me to be a bit pricey for what i had to offer. there a lot of options even when looking for mild power adders. hope this helps.
P.S. if youre only after small power gains your trans will be fine. (up to around 90 extra hp is what they say)
I saw that they made one called the duramaximizer, Does anyone know about that one?? I know that one is hard mounted with an infinate on the go tuner knob. Or would it be better to just get a plug in tuner?
I would personally do the Plug in tuner over the chip box. I would highly recomend PPE, but you would might want to also look at Quadzilla, ATS, and Diablosport also. Any of these can put down enough power to damage the stock transmission so remember keep it under 90hp and take it easy on any of the overdrive shifts, up or down.
The transgo Jr. that was metioned is a good kit, but it is only good for the 6 speeds. The 5 speeds needs the full transgo kit in order to do any good. With the full kit you have to pull the tranny though. I would personally just try to take it easy and if you want more power, start saving for a Suncoast, TTS, or ATS tranny.
Welcome to the site!!!
