Up 6 mpg? MYSTERIOUS

Hey everyone, now I am really confused.... I have been pissen and moanen about my poor mpg and now today when I filled up, I hand calculated 22 MPG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't changed anything and have been driving the same. So how can I go from gettin 15.7 avg. to 22? (All hand calculated.)

I have about 3,000 miles on new injectors if that matters. I have been told by some that the injectors need to break in? I don't really know what there is to breakin in an injector, but if they finally broke in, I am happy................

Did you try unhooking your battery like I suggested? I'm .00001% sure I'm not crazy and did hear that our trucks sometimes have an issue w/the torque converter. I think it either engages all the time or never engages and causes horrible MPG loss.

No, I didn't change anything. I was planning on doing the batt. reset but when I filled up, I was amazed. I have not a clue why it was so much better on this fill. I just hope it keeps it goin.

Maybe there was less wind on that tank. I just drove 520 km non stop in calm weather and got 18 MPG ( Thats the best I'VE ever got ) Then coming home same road, same cargo, same distance, different day with a steady cross wind, I was down to 12 MPG... wind plays a big factor

I know, I did check the math several times.... 260 / 11.75 gal 22.1

My fuel gauge was between 3/4 and 1/2 tank. Usually I'm getting about 200 miles out of about a 1/2 tank.

4x4 fantasy, you better hope that I don't tell my wife about your smaller women comment, she'll kick your butt! lol

One other thing to mention is that I have been filling up at the same place all the time. Its a station that alot of truckers fill up and they go thru lots of fuel and keep the stuff fresh.

Trust me I am very anal about getting good mpg and I am not B.S. ing I just can't believe that it can vary that much???

On my last tank, going east on 80 I got 20.66 mpg I was very happy with that. It is only the second or third time breaking the 20mpg mark.

I have seen wind direction affect my mpg by as much as 4 mpg!!
