Block heater and EGT

I've tried searching and I'm not sure if my searching skills are just sub par or what, but I've got two questions

Where does everyone's plug for their truck located at? Mine is just laying under the hood with no destination

Second I'm curious what everyone's idle EGT temps are, I'm new to a diesel and I heard I was suppose to wait for them to lower before I shut down? Also what's high range for EGT?

I kept trying to run it out the bumper area but no way it was going to reach

Is it true that I should wait for my EGT to drop down before shutting down the truck? And what's high range for EGT so I can set my edge correctly

my cord is wrapped around the core support and i poked it out between my headlight and my grille.. and your egt's idling are fine.. you dont wanna see sustained 1400's..you will see over 1000 when standing on it with that edge.. but if u start climbing up to 1300 i would ease out of the skinny pedal

The cord is wrapped in the loom it was attached to. If you undue the wire loom you can pull enough cord out to reach the bumper.

Yeah I didn't know if you had it coming out like your grill or your tow hooks or under your fender and so on, mine only seems like it would reach out my fender

It's a good idea to idle briefly before shutdown to extend turbo life. If you can get EGT to 300F or less, that's great.

One trick is to shut off the AC or Defroster when idling, it'll take some load off the motor and cool faster.

With proper timing, it should idle down to 240-280F.
