fuel mileage

Looking at a used 2005 duramax has 176k on it. Wondered who has actual fuel mileage? I had a 2001 and got near 20 mpg empty and about 14 towing 6,500. Any advice would be appreciated as well as any pitfalls to look for i thins year.

any input on its value is cool too.

Your MPG will be a bit less than an LB7 because of the vvt turbo and emissions equipment but I still see 18-19 MPG highway unloaded.

My only mod is an AFE mouthpiece...I see 18-19mpg (hand calculated) empty and 11.5mpg when towing (7500lbs). I generally drive no faster than 65mpg, I am never in a hurry....

I get 17-18 in the summer, 15-17 in the winter. If I let it warm up often it might go as low as 14. Mostly hwy and 60 mph or less.

Hey im looking at buying a 2005 ccsb with 87000 miles. The guy just has juice with attitude and the cats taken out and a k&n intake. 6 inch lift and 35 inch tires and claims he gets 13 city and is not sure about highway. Is this true and what will my highway be roughly? Would efi live and exhaust help much?
