Maybe one of you guys can help me out on this. I changed my oil about a month ago, and put about 2k on the oil change so far. I checked my oil and it musta been about 3 inches over the full on the stick. I'm thinking a bad injector? I get a slight ruff idle opon start up. And white smoke. LOTS of it. But being winter time is the smoke normal? I just had head gaskets and bolts changed at 95k and about 105k on it now.
Look up blackstone labs. That is where I send my race car oil samples to.
Also you can take a piece of white paper and drop a drip of oil on it and watch it. If you get a halo around the oil spot it most likely fuel. Not really scientific but some say it works. I have never tried it myself.
and how often have you heard of that? Probably never. Not on an LLY. It could also be the cp3....but again so in likely. We need to be sure its diesel here.
Coolants full. And oil looks and smells good. A little thinner but it was 5-40. But I changed it and sent in a sample to some place. Jus waiting to see what it turns out to be.
crack the drain plug one turn or two, if it leaks through the threads it's probably fuel diluted..
Wipe the dipstick with a clean hand and have your wife smell it?
Put a drop on a white paper towel or sheet of paper. Fuel will spread rapidly from the drop center. Also you should have two different shades of color if fuel is in there.
We'll I tried outing a drop on a sheet of paper towel and I couldn't see nothing. But when I changed it it wasn't odd colored I don't beleve just the usual almost black.
The only other thing I know of is a dye test. You can dye the fuel, run it for some miles and then blacklight the oil to see if any dyed fuel is in there.
Some auto stores refer to it as ring leak dye. It is safe (if used within proper ratios indicated on the bottles) for anything petroleum-based like gas/diesel/oil.
Just make sure you get the TP-3700 bottle for fuel
But won't that dye test show fuel in the oil anyways? Cause your Gona get a small amount of fuel in it at idle.
