EGR Valve

My 04 LLY seems really sluggish in the morning. It seems like it has no power for about two blocks and seems like it warms up or something after that. After those two blocks it runs fine. I was told that it is quite possibly a stuck egr valve. Any other ideas? What could i do to try to fix it?

I'm sure that the truck just needs to worm up, just like any motor the motor needs heat in it to run. I've never had this issue on my LLY but i don't hot rod it in the moring. Get a scaner and check the codes, alot of the time the EGR wont through a engine light. Get yourself an EGR block plate anyways and that will shut the EGR off completly. GOOD LUCK

If your EGR is stuck or bad, your truck will smoke like a freight train! Had it happen several months ago.

Was it stuck open for all the smoke? Otherwise if it was stuck closed, wouldn't it act like the EGR blocker plate?? I didn't have much smoke on my stock truck before I installed the EGR blocker plate, and almost no smoke since I installed the blocker plate...

Not sure if it was open or closed, but I can tell you for sure, it smoked like I was running on shredded tires. My guess would have been stuck open.
