LLY oil pressure

Im not sure if this has been talked about before, but when my truck is at operating temp it idles at about 30 psi, and when cruising down the road at 65 mph, its at 55 psi. I use rotella oil and fleetguard filter. Im a diesel tech for kenworth, and im used to seeing big oil pressure readings, these seem kind of low to me, never had a check engine light or anything, and the level is always at the full mark. Just wondereing if anyone else's engine is like this.
Thanks, Derek W.

Its normal. Thats about where my 05 operated at and my LMM is about the same as well. Ive seen mine idle lower than 30psi often, especially after the engine is up to temp.

yeah, but you cant always trust the cluster....they arent always that accurate. If you want to know for sure put an aftermarket guage on it.

no thats incorrect.

minimum allowable spec is 14 psi hot at idle, and 48 psi at 1800rpm.

yes they are. Every duramax ive ever worked on, the oil pressure gauge was just about spot on.

The only gauge in the duramax instrument cluster thats not 100% accurate is the coolant temp gauge.

The trans temp and oil pressure gauges are very accurate. This isnt a ford we are dealing with here...
