| oil dipstick problem major issue? i checked my oil today pulled dipstick wiped the end of it put back in pulled it out to verify oil level and guess what no more indicator at the end of the cable dipstick. i'm guessing now i have to drop the oil pan to get the piece out? either way i didn't start the truck and its now sitting still in the driveway. anyone have this happen yet? it seems like the the cable dipstick w/ the soldered on end isn't that great of a design. hopefully it will be in the bottom of the pan when i drop it.

| I would see If you could not find a long skinny magnet and drop down there before Dropping the pan.

| Not sure if a auto magnet would work.. I would bet the braded cable is a stainless alloy

| dipstick i don't think the end that has the indicator hatch marks is magnetic, it seems to be more like a lead fishing sinker? does anyone know if the dipstick hole goes straight down into the pan? either way i will be draining the oil and probably dropping the pan to get it out.
