well afe if offering the same mp with an extension pipe to fit lbz intakes and marketing it as an lbz piece as well and claiming a 9% flow improvement...
Ok, I just did the "Redneck Cold Air Intake" it took all of 15 minutes!
I can now hear the "whistle" at much lower rpm's. And acceleration seems to be a little bit better now!
But, I did it a little differently than the way Hook'em_Horns! did his and I'm wondering if things will work correctly???
Check out the pics below, you'll see that after cutting the opening in the front of the airbox I decided to block off the original airbox opening with duct tape for the time being.
It wasn't clear to me if putting the foam weather stripping around that original opening was needed if I just blocked the opening completely.
So do you think this will work?
Only cold air from the headlight/grill area is going into the airbox now when to truck is rolling at least, sitting and idling is a different story, maybe?
At idle, I held my hand in front of the new hole, and you can really feel the air being pulled in!!!
So do I have enough airflow through just the new hole I cut in the front of the airbox or should I open up the original hole and weather strip around it? Seems like hot air can still get in that way though!
eh....i would leave the old one open as well..... when i did mine it was totally different then all that but still i thing you would be better off leaving most of the original hole there...
but maybe someone who knows more will chime in

The reason I closed it was I thought hot air will still come in from the side (original opening). But if I'm limiting the airflow, (which I'm not sure if I am or not) then I'll open it up again and weather strip the top, rear side, and bottom of the opening leaving only the front side open to cooler air.
Does that make more sense?

i understand what you're say..but i think the edded space tp breathe would counter act the slightly warmer air you're getting from the side...but im not an engineer so i cant say for sure

When I get a chance to go get some weather stripping then I'll try what I said in post # 46 and see if I notice any difference!
