Why does it sound like this?

Well, wether my truck is warmed up, or cold, at an idle it sounds like a jet for a few seconds, then it sounds like I dont even have a turbo.

shwooshhhh, luglugluglug, swhoooshhhhhh, luglugluglug, etc.

Its like the wastegate opens and closes randomly, but only at an idle, in park, reverse, neutral, and drive.

I have a 4" turbo back exhaust, Airaid intake, and Edge programmer (for sale btw).

So what is causing this and how do I stop it?

It is normal for the VVT trucks. It is the turbo vanes opening and closing

mine does that too but my edge evolution race changes the turbos vanes that is what is causing the swosshh(about 76% vpos) and luglug sound.(about 20% vpos). i dont believe you have to worry about nething.

btw: even if your programmer doesn't change the vane position the truck will do it on its own

Would I be able to change this with EFI Live? I really like the lugluglug sound when Im sitting at a stop light, and then as soon as I tap the skinny pedal it goes away. Thats what I would like, it would be safer when a cop is sitting next to me and my exhaust is pointing at his window! HaHa.

i have mine tuned for the turbo vanes open, or closed not sure lol but all it does now at idle and up to 1000 rpm it lug lug lug, sounds like an LB7 duramax and i love it. plus the down spool on the turbo sounds like a powerstroke it is so loud, i drove with my turbo vanes normal for 3 months straight piped and the sound after i got it tuned is unbelieveable compared to the jet engine sound. Someone will chime in with the proper # for EFI programming. I forget them.

it's an egr diagnostic test, and turbo vane limit test.

You can get rid of it by cancelling the egr diagnostic and redefining the idle vane position.

I do it with custom tuning.
