in 5th gear, i have limped my trans once and of course I was cruising on the interstate gave it just a little more foot and limped it in 5th just take it easy in overdrive and downshift like chris said if you want to hammer on it

What exactly do you guys mean when you say " limped my trans" I'm still new here so dont really know what your meaning

Limp mode is when there is something that goes wrong like when the clutches slip from to much power in this case the tcm picks up on it and so it doesnt continue to happen and hurt the trans it puts it into limp mode which limits you and your RPM's to like 3rd gear i believe, usually you will get an engine light telling you that the TCM threw a code the light can either be reset with a tuner or should go off with a few key cycles... But the truck has to totally be shut off, and restarted to take the trans out limp mode.... And people say if you limp your trans once it gets a little easier to limp after that for everytime it happens

The trans goes into "Safe Mode" and limits rpms, speed and fuel. You will get a p07xx code as well. I smoked my torque converter in 8,000 miles with PPE 225 but never limped it once.
