If I remember correctly, it is left thread. [Right hand thread] The easiest way to get it off is using an air punch (or chisel if you don't have a punch). A two or three second blast on the edge of the nut will get her loose and it will spin off after that. Reverse the process to put it back on. Hope this helps.

It is right hand normal threads--

The pulley has a couple holes to place a spanner wrench. As stated aair chisel is the best to try to unscrew the threads.

My bad on the thread direction. It was back in the summer when I took the fan clutch off. Thanks for the correction.

There is a spacial tool you need to remove it. A air chisel will work as well.

Most auto parts stores like advanced will have them for rent.

I used a small spanner wrench and large crescent wrench, took a bit of yarding on it to finally break it loose with the 105k miles it had on it but it did the job.

old thead but i have another ?. I've taking the fan clutch off my 01 twice, once when i replaced flexplate, and another when i did the fpr.. And i cant remember which way to turn the darn nut.. the fan moves counter clockwise while looking from the front of the motor, so ive been trying to turn it clockwise. both times it came off pretty easy with the fan clutch holder, i just stick little bolts in the pulley and use that and a piece of steel i made to fit on the nut.. theres a little 3/8 coolant line that is leaking that connects to the pipe that goes from the thermostat housing to the pump and some other line and was hoping that i could replace it without taking that pipe off.

Easy way to remember-- it unscrews the oposite way it normally turns.

If it was left hand-- it could come off when you drive the vehicle.
