There was no post about the kit not being installed correctly until I posted. That to me sounds like an axe to grind.
I feel badly about your problems, but tell the whole story when explaining failures.
Steve is not a buddy of mine, I've meet him and have talked on the phone many times. I also know MikeL. I'm glad you are working with him and hope you are happy with the end results.
The main line pressure shim adds more holding power to the clucthes than a very small amount. Major part of every trans kit for the allison. Leave it out on a SC stage 5 and see what happens also.
We had three 600HP plus Dmaxs at the drag strip this weekend, all running the complete and properly installed TTS kits. All in the 12's and all working great.
I've been modding my Allisons for 4 years now and testing product. I post about what works.
Take care,
Rob

Aparently you know more about a properly built Allison the Mike L because he told me that was not reason for the failure. We all here about your transmission holding huge power on stock clutches, Thats why I bought the kit in the first place because you recomended it to me. What we never hear about is the ATS-CO-PILOT and the other internals helpers you have in your tranny. The TTS kit uses alot of the same components as suncoast but there are a couple other things left out that need to be in there to hold 500whp (DRIVEN HARD) IMO.. For must guys running 500whp that want to run a ricer on occasion or something along those lines the TTS kit with good clutches should be fine. I am no Expert by far but I am learning very quickly who and who not to do buisness with when it comes to my Duramax or Allison.
Way I look at it is, there is no such thing as a perfect product. No matter what you sell, you will always have someone who gets a bad apple. And I've called Suncoast before and asked them about tranny upgrades, and asked them if I bought their biggest kit, with the best options, can they guarantee me that it won't ever limp the tranny. And their reply was no....they won't guarantee it. And I've also seen a couple posts from people who have the full blown 7 grand ATS tranny with Co-pilot who have had alot of issues and limping problems. So I dont' think it matters who you go with....I think it all depends on luck of the draw, and how badly you abuse your truck.

It is a performance part. Performance parts do fail. That's the nature of it. WE all take chances with getting thing upgraded on our trucks. I was nervous as hell getting my SCIV done. I was standing there the whole time thinking am I doing the right thing and I know I did the right thing. My builder did an A-1 job and I watched every step of it. No parts left over! Goodluck with the rebuild.

Well my truck did not just go into limp mode it cooked the clutches and would barely move even after I reset the codes.
And yes they will all fail at some point and I agree a good builder goes a long way with any kit. That is why I shoped around and called Suncoast, ATS, and TTS before I purchased a kit. I felt the kit would be sufficient for me and I was mistaking. There are lots of probabilities and I do not want to start a pissing match on here. that is not why I go on these forums I go on here to learn what I can and help where I can. My transmission builder was reffered to me buy suncoast and he has a very successfull buisness, building allisons so between that and my discussions with one of the top Allison guys in the country I have to believe this was a failure do to my abuse while running big tunes and the kit not being able to hold the power. Thats my opinion nothing more nothing less take it for what its worth.
Just wondering custom8726 why did they leave the washer out? What was the reasoning behind it?

The builder should have installed it no matter how little it boosts line pressure every bit helps. After discussing it not be installed with other tranny guys I opted not to make him R&R my transmission for free even though he offered. I do not believe this was the cause of the failure but simply a way to pass the blame.

Ding Ding a way to pass the blame it is. Just because u did not install 1 simple part. Imho u dont need that u increase line pressure enought with the transgo. That washer dont do crap

I am sorry that i can not make it to threads in times. If u are having a problem and need help pm me and i will get to u ASAP
Hope you get up and running soon and that you have no more issues.
My last post in this thread is, if the spacer does nothing, tell Mike L. that you don't want it installed again and see how he answers. ATS, Suncoast, and NADP all have the main line valve either shimmed(washer that wasn't installed) or use a different spring to do the same thing.
What about the all important converter flow valve? Was that not installed?
I appears the experienced installer that did your tranny knew how important this shim and boost valve is and that is why he offered to install it for free.
Hope it's up and running soon with many happy miles in front of you!
I'm out of this one,
Rob
