I called my dealer to ask what else I could do without voiding the warranty and he told me anything other that an intake kit would void the warranty. I know this is false because after reading a couple other posts on this topic I googled the Magnusson whatever Act and it does a pretty good job of explaining the details. But now I'm still kind of leary about doing my next step of a tuner and eventually an exhaust. I don't need the hassle and my wife isn't a legal eagle! I want mileage not speed performance as I tow a 13-14,000# 5th wheel and get about 10.5mpg @ 65-70MPH. I only have 1500 miles on it now so when can I expect the natural increase with break-in? Any recommendations for my needs?
Have fun working your legal expenses off! |
Your warrenty will not be voided unless they can prove 100% that was the cause of it all. Best thing to do is got with some kinda programmer that can no be trailed. Take it off everytime your truck goes to the dealer.

Hopefully they will have someone else look at the injectors instead of pictures and replace the engine and do the right thing.
Just how much will it cost them to replace the engine compared to how many lost new vehicles sales from the bad publicity of a lot of members telling friends and family that gm doen't stand behind their warranty.
We members love our vehicles and are faithful, but that doesn't mean that our friends and family have to be faithful to gm. Let them stick that up their tailpipes and smoke that!
duramax-rob | Thanks for all the support, Rob I agree with you. Since I have posted for people to message me that have had the same problems, I have received 2-3 messages a day back. It seems General Motors is showing a "huge" pattern of warranty coverage denile on the diesel engines. More then I ever expected. The more we pull together and the more ammo we have, the better! This is a bigger problem than I thought! I am surprised they have been getting away with it for so long. This has to be brought out to the public view! |

Amero® | I am working on it. Talked to the BBB autoline today Again! Had to explain to them, I am not interested in filing an appeal to your decision. I told them to follow the instructions on your own application that you asked me to fill out in the first place and look into why General Motors is not covering my engine (WHEN IT IS COVERED BY THE 60MONTH/100,000 MILE G.M.DIESEL WARRANTY).
I think they got there help from the local DMV! And they wonder why people go postal!

| FYI when you say that your going to sue them GM shuts down and there attorney on hand takes it over from there! I guaranntee it that there attorney feels they can win it or they would have already paid for it. Sorry chances are you will lose on this issue! They are not voiding the warranty on the entire truck just the engine. Good luck with this issue GM doesn't care that it will go to court!!! |

I said it before, This truck has never had any type of a power-adder. This is a stock truck! I know GENERAL MOTORS doesn't care. They have already showed us that.
I now have over half a dozen people with the same problems and I am collecting all the documents to show the pattern GENERAL MOTORS is following. This gets very nasty when you can prove this. It kind of follows like bad faith on an insurance claim. Judges frown on it. The consumer is constantly getting screwed! If it is not taken care of, I have every intent of bringing to light with the T.V.news and the news papers. Cars and trucks are probably the second most expensive purchase for most people out there. You shouldnt have to worry weather you will have warranty coverage when they state it when you make your purchase.. |

Therein lies the reason I've been driving Toyota's for the past 20 years. If Toyota made an honest to God 3/4 ton pick-up, G.M. and Ford would have been history by now.
Secondly, I thank you for saving me a bunch of money. I'll explain... I've been looking for a newer pick-up for some time and had decided on an older 7.3 power stroke, but have been unable to find one that didn't need lots of work. The 7.3 is tough and dependable, but the 4R100 sucks. The D-max is my second choice because of the injector issues, and some of my own experiences with G.M. warranty work in the distant past. Anyway, I found an '02 crew cab D-max in good shape, but have decided to go with a 6.0L instead. Now all I have to do is find one with 373s and I'll be in business. |

| Hey Speed Pro,
I think your from Ca. if so one of the TV station has a program where their investigator reporter investigates and reports on these kinds of complaints.
