I made the mistake of getting too close on one my my old trucks, not good! |

| Hmm I'd say thats normal for the truck to go to 210 unloaded. On the highway mines at 180-190 but aroundtown and going up hills it just cracks 210 even unloaded. I agree with everyone else. Once you get a exhaust you should notice a decrease in EGT's! The odd thing out of everything is why does EDGE have a warning for that temp?

| Ya the biggest problems why your truck's running hot, other than obvious possibilites like dirty radiator, low coolant ect. are two main things. One: Your intake sucks hot air in from the engine compartment and into the turbo, making your intercooler hotter, and your engine radiator less effective, and two: the turbo mouthpiece, which causes your turbo to work harder to suck in the same amount of air, which heats the charged air more.
Once those two things are taken care of it should be a lot quieter inside your cab (no fan on all the time)
The person I'd look up is Hook 'em Horns, he modded his stock airbox and noticed a world of difference (ie practically no fan activity). I'm sure he'd love to share his success story! |

| Review this link, cold air intake
open up the air box, and clean up front first. With those miles, the likelihood of buildup in the Cooling assemblies is great.
Cleaning up front, DO NOT use high pressure, as the danger of damaging cooling fins in the elements is too great. Washing from the front is not going to penetrate through and past all of the other elements in front of the radiator for cleaning anyway.
You need to pull the cap across the top of the radiator support in order to clean in between all of the elements, removing the bugs and debris collected from over time. A garden hose with light pressure is all you need.
Get ‘er clean and breathing first, Rule out any buildup in the lower radiator core, then go from there on mods.
On edit: When it's time to service the cooling system, (flush, new fluid) one should always address the buildup up front, but most places don't.

| Thanks for all the info guys.
I just installed my new MBRP 4 " straight pipe exhaust. First off all I can say is "WOW CAN SHE BREATH NOW!!!!"
The exhaust has fixed my temps on the freeway from reaching anything over 210 (unloaded). It has also lowered my EGT's almost 200 degrees.
The sound is awesome but so was my 1/2 ton right after I installed a new exhaust. After a few weeks it was not as loud Will see how it sound after a month?
It also fixed the defueling issues I was having with the edge. The guy from edge told me the truck defuels for two reasons.
1st is EGT Temps are to high.
2nd Trany slippage
I did a 1/4 mile run with both EGT temps and Tranny slip gauges up. Luckly for me my tranny was not slipping it was only my EGT's getting to the max %.
After the straight pipe I can now run the edge on level 3 with little to no backdown %. My truck has never ran better!
I just installed it yesterday and have notice my AVG miles per gallon has gone up 2mpg and still going up. This is based off the trucks computer not hand calculated. We all no know how inaccurate the computers avg MPG's are but still driving style has not changed and the computer is reading more MPG so im kind of excited Ill let everyone know what I get after the hand calculation |

| Wow congrats on the new exhaust install! I honestly never heard of someone saying there exhaust gotquieter even on a gasser! I'd say if anything the exhaust would get louder. The muffler is hollow as it is with fins and packing in it. The fins and packing start to get filled with soot causing a louder exhaust.
