Engine Temperature reaching 210 (unloaded) Is this a problem?

This weekend I was on the freeway doing 80 mph and notice the edge alerting me that the engine temps have reached 210. I was unloaded and in cruise control, also my edge was running on power level 1 and has been for the past 2000miles. There are no steep hills on the strip of freeway I was on. It was also only 98 outside not a very hot day.

Is this something I should be worried about considering I was completely unloaded? I have read post in the past that the engine temps have reached 210 pulling a 5th wheel but never unloaded.

What could cause this problem? I have recently flushed everything you can possibly imagine on my truck, new filters off every kind including fuel filter. Had the injectors professionally cleaned but did not notice any improvements after the clean so I might take it back

1 thing i did to bring my temps back down a good amount (cause i was running about 210 all the time with my truck) so what i did was take a power washer to the radiator and the intercooler which i could see was pluged with bugs and grass after i did this she was back down to about 200 all the time. give her a try

Since its an LLY you need to read the two write ups by Killerbee about Thermal Feedback on the LLY. This is whats causing the heat up at WOT or Higher speeds with more boost.

Read the two attached files in this link from Killerbee, you will be amazed with how much better your truck performs with the couple of free fix's in a very bad design on the LLY intake.

Performance, Intakes, Thermal Feedback, LLY Mouthpiece

I would take and modify the Turbo mouthpiece my self if I were you, and then install a full LBZ stock intake from Filter & Box to the Turbo Mouthpiece. Also a 4" Down pipe back exhaust would really help too.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. My MBRP 4" downpipe and muffler delete exhaust should be here by Tuesday. My new exhaust and modifying the mouthpiece should do wonders for my truck from what it sounds like I can’t wait!

You guys are awesome!! I have saved a lot of Money, time and have learned a lot here considering that I’m a newbie to Diesel engines
