2004 duramax problems

I have a 2004 Gmc 2500 Duramx with 238000kms. The truck will have a faint knocking noise sometimes and then it will loose all its power and the engine light will come on. I was told when it looses all its power it goes into "limp mode". I have had it looked at but the computer shows no codes for the problem. If i shut the truck off and turn it back on it is normally good again for a day or so. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

If you have the LLY, check out the "icepick" fix. Just google search it. To see if you have the LLY, check the 8th digit in the VIN and see if it's 2. If so, do the icepick.
