05 lly parts

I bought this truck a while back and didn't know it apparently had a programmer before. I'm assuming an edge because the pyrometer wiring is still there and unhooked. Also they didn't uninstall it properly because I tried to use a handheld and it give some type of error saying something about my vin # was locked in something else. It has 4" magnaflow exhaust. What is a good starting point for mod's? I have read a good bit about AFE intake and they seem to be the cream of the crop.

Was the handheld programmer brand new? Its possible that it could be vin locked if it were used. If you have a tune already loaded on your truck I belive you can take it to the dealer and have it cleared for around $100. AFE is a good brand for an intake, so is banks but you wont see that much of a difference with an aftermarket intake. I believe the stock system works just fine up to 500hp

It was a superchips brand new in the box. About the intake. I'm just looking for some starting points for better mileage.

Well the only one I've tried is the AFE stage 2 and it makes a small difference in mileage but banks is proven to work and with the scoop it'll bring some extra cold air to the extra large filter they have. I think its a pretty cool design.

Thanks. I have pulled my truck a few times and it was quite a rush so I figure this will just be an ongoing project.

Well then the banks setup will likely be best for you. The cooler air will help lower the egt's and help save the turbo.

the stock ones filters out better then all the aftermarket ones if u ask me just use your stock one with stock filter and cut a hole in the side dont waste 300 buck on a intake because is 1 hp gain worth 300 bucks no they dont give up to what ever they say
