There are other thread on this topic. The "best" place depends on your information objective.

Do you want to know what the cylinder is seeing, or do you want to know how hard the compressor is working? The 2 locations for each of these goals will read very different as a result of pressure drop.

I advocate partially against using the boost gauge solely as a performance gauge, this can be a mistake to the longevity of your turbo and motor.

I agree with FH Leader about putting it on tha cast peace comming off the intercooler for a couple reasons.. I forget why but I heard thats the best place to get the most acurate reading actually more accurate than up top. Also, I wouldnt tap the top pipe on top of the motor. The metal there is thin and it has a chance of popping out causing your turbo to suck in debris.

actually the turbo wouldnt suck in debrees where i tapped into the tube, then engine would but the intercooler should collect them. i watch all my gauges all the time now that i have them and i would notice the boost not working right away. mine hasnt popped out yet and i have held 24psi for about 13 miles or so before the tube blew off, typical LLY!!!! i was leary about drilling the aluminum but all went well. there is 4.5 visible threads and with some harvyseal i dont think there will be any problems where i put it with stock boost or a tish more
