PPE Question

so i am new to this and i am wondering if i get the PPE hot +2 and set it on level 10 will my engine produce an extra 425 hp? i am confused on how that all works thanks for the help

on the ppe the hp gain is at the flywheel. so yes if it says 425 extra that's what you'll get. Keep in mind the tranny will not hold for long at that.

i wouldn't advise it with a stock tranny. def. not the 5 speed! about 100 extra ponies is all it can take before you start having tranny slipping or going in to limp mode. if you are power hungry, check on a sc tranny level 4 or 5.

can a stock engine hold the ppe at level 10?

Engine will support the higher level tunes but only briefly before you run outta of fuel and throw a rail pressure code, you will need a lift pump to keep up. But as the other guys said your weak point will be the transmission

so what is the most extra hp that the lly can handle before you need to start messing with the engine internals?

i have an 05 and i put it on level 5. I did put a shim kit in the fuel rail. You will need that to run a level that high. Anything after level 3 mine would throw a code until i shimed it

If you installed level 10 on a other wise stock truck you will not get 425 hp even at the crank. In order to see the 425 HP you would have to have lift pump (fuel pump), Fuel pressure relief valve shimmed, exhaust system, turbo upgrade, and dual fuelers. Level 9 (350 HP) is the most you can run without the dual fuelers and turbo. The engine internals are good up until about 600-650 RWHP.

Like they stated, your stock tranny would not last since it is only good for a 90 HP increase.

I put the ppe standard on my truck. In level 4. the 225hp tune. I work at chevy and knew this was going to cause a problem. I broke my torque converter within 600miles of installing it. My truck only had 41k on the truck. The tranny to replace was 5200.00 is what gm paid to fix it. You will blow that tranny right apart. If I can do it in 225hp mode you can really do it in 350hp mode.

so you can actually run on level 9 with only a tranny, lift pump, exhaust and valve shim? i am going to be using the truck mainly for cruising around but towing a little and showing off to buddies on the weekend. will i get the best performance as well as millage if i leave the ppe on the highest possible setting and keep my foot out of it or is that bad for your truck to leave it on such a high setting?
